How competitions, scoring, and rankings work on Competition Hub — for athletes, organizers, and judges.

All competitions on Competition Hub belong to one of four modalities and one of four tiers. These two attributes determine how results affect national rankings.

Modalities

ModalityExamples
FreestyleFreestyle routines, judged on execution / difficulty / creativity / flow
StreetliftingWeighted pull-ups, weighted dips, weighted squats
Sets & RepsMax pull-ups in 2 min, max dips, max push-ups
StaticsPlanche hold, front lever, back lever, human flag

Tiers

TierLevelMultiplierExamples
1Virtual / Benchmark×1Online opens, benchmark tests
2Local / Sanctioned×2City-level CC-sanctioned events
3Regionals×3Provincial Championships, Regional Qualifiers
4Nationals / Championship×4Canadian Nationals, CC Championship

A competition is created by an approved organizer (affiliate or admin), set to draft status, then published once at least one event is added. Athletes can register while the competition is open.

Each competition contains one or more Events (e.g., "Max Pull-ups in 2 min", "Weighted Dips", "Freestyle Routine"). Athletes receive a Score per event.

Placement Points (per event)

15th180
16th160

Placements beyond 16th earn 0 points. Each event's championship value = placement points × the competition's tier multiplier.

Each score record also stores a raw score (reps, time, weight, or judge score) and optional discipline-specific details (e.g., total load for streetlifting, or execution/difficulty/creativity/flow for freestyle).

Score Types

TypeDescriptionCounts toward ranking?
Sanctioned (Official)Entered by a CC-approved organizer at a registered event✅ Yes
Unofficial / Self-reportedEntered by an athlete for personal tracking or unregistered competitions❌ No (hidden from public leaderboard)
PrivateNot visible to other users regardless of sanction status❌ No

Athletes can request that organizers who have scores in external formats (spreadsheets, etc.) submit them to CC for official onboarding. See the Score Upload Requests section below.

Rankings are calculated per modality and overall. Here is the full formula:

  1. Placement Points are assigned per event based on the granular table above (1st = 500 … 16th = 160; beyond 16th = 0).
  2. Event Value = placement points × the competition's tier multiplier (Tier 1 ×1, Tier 2 ×2, Tier 3 ×3, Tier 4 ×4).
  3. Per modality, your score = the average of your top 5 event values in that discipline within the championship year (fewer than 5 → average of what you have).
  4. Competition Activity Bonus is added after the average, rewarding more frequent competition within a modality: 2nd comp = +50, 3rd = +45, 4th = +40, 5th = +35, 6th = +30, 7th = +25, 8th = +20, 9th = +15, 10th and beyond = +10 each.
  5. Overall ("Hub Pts") = sum of all four modality scores — Freestyle + Streetlifting + Sets & Reps + Statics.
  6. Verified athletes (who claimed their Hub account) receive a +10% boost on Overall.

Tie-breakers

When athletes have identical ranking scores, ties are broken in order: highest single event score → most 1st-place finishes → most podium (top-3) finishes → most competitions participated in.

Example

AthleteCompetitionTierMultiplierPlacement PtsEvent Value
AlexCC Nationals4×4500 (1st)2,000
AlexOntario Regionals3×3460 (2nd)1,380
AlexToronto Open2×2430 (3rd)860
AlexVirtual Open1×1405 (4th)405
AlexSpring Benchmark1×1380 (5th)380

Alex's Freestyle modality score = average of top 5: (2000 + 1380 + 860 + 405 + 380) / 5 = 1,005 pts (+ any activity bonus). Overall = sum of all four modality scores.

The National Benchmark Series runs twice per year (Spring Open and Fall Open). Athletes submit video proof of their performance across three modules:

  • Endurance — 8 standard exercises + 2 wildcards (reps-based)
  • Strength — 4 standard exercises, 2 selected as the required combo per Open (weight × reps / Wilks)
  • Skill — 10 standard skills + 2 wildcards (hold time × multiplier)

Judges review each submission and mark it Passed or Failed. Athletes who pass at least 2 of 3 modules qualify for the national benchmark leaderboard.

Benchmark results appear separately from competition results on the leaderboard but contribute to an athlete's overall standing.

Each athlete profile shows:

  • Modality-specific ranks and scores
  • Competition history (sanctioned events)
  • Benchmark submission status

Score Visibility Rules:

Score FlagVisible to public?On leaderboard?
is_sanctioned=true, is_public=true✅ Yes✅ Yes
is_sanctioned=false, is_public=true✅ Yes (marked unofficial)❌ No
is_sanctioned=true, is_public=false❌ No❌ No
is_sanctioned=false, is_public=false❌ No❌ No

Athletes can add unofficial scores to track results from non-CC competitions or informal events. These are clearly labeled and never affect national rankings.

If you are an organizer with historical results saved in spreadsheets, PDFs, or other formats — CC can onboard these into the Hub as official sanctioned scores, provided the event meets CC standards.

How to request a score upload:

  1. Email info@calisthenicscanada.com with subject line: "Score Upload Request"
  2. Attach your spreadsheet or results file (CSV, Excel, PDF accepted)
  3. Include: event name, date, city, modality, tier, and athlete list with placements
  4. CC admin will review and import within 5–10 business days

Note: CC reserves the right to decline uploads for events that do not meet sanctioning criteria or lack sufficient documentation.
